Mom…Dad, Are You Game? (Kids Games Play Online)
from:
As you might have experienced yourselves, online gaming is not an unfamiliar world for kids. Kids easily learn how to use computers like sponge absorbing liquids.
Every hour, everyday, and every week a new game product are created by gaming experts and manufacturers. But you ask yourself, are these games good for your kids? Are some of them at least educational in some sense? Aside from hand-eye coordination motor skills, do these games help your child enhance their cognitive and logical abilities? Most children are disgusted when their parents choose a game for them. However, that thing is a parent’s prerogative. Further, parents must choose just the right game that can combine exercise, learning, and, let us not forget, fun. With this, kids might just budge in and play the games mommy and daddy chose for them.
In suggesting an online computer game for your child, cool visuals are a big factor for some clean techno fun. Eye candy visuals usually include great color combinations, fantastically created terrain of the computer environment, and a handful of striking and cool characters.
As for the educational element, children must not feel as if they’re doing their homework. Educational computer games must be played in an entertaining way. A type of game that easily combines amusement and learning are strategy games. These games involve tactical skills that are easily enjoyed by children. Some of these games feature historical events such as the makings of the ancient Roman and Greek empires, the medieval crusades, the rise and fall of the Aztecs or Incans, etc. For younger children, there are online games that can teach them the basics of taking care of a pet, constructing simple puzzles, or vocabulary games.
Games are also judged for their cool gaming factor. Games that are fun and challenging can make a child busy for hours. And it would be much more enjoyable if a game requires multiple players which will involve some interaction with other players.
If you think that online computer games can only exercise the muscles of the fingertips, think again. There are state-of-the-art gaming equipments that can make your children stretch their muscles in dancing, jumping, play boxing or kicking. Additional equipments, such as dance pads or movement detectors, have been developed to detect hand and arm movement as well as footwork. And the fun part is that children can interact with other children in the cyber world, which makes it more challenging. These types of games are increasingly becoming popular among children and adults.
Other than knowing the right online gaming stuff for your child, the parent should also learn how to play online games with their children to get to know them better. While this may bother some children, this will be a good approach in discovering your children’s gaming practices as well as teaching them how to deal with other people online.
It is important that children must also learn about etiquette, also known as netiquette in cyberspace. This will avoid squabbles with other people that are also playing online. Furthermore, parents should teach children not to give away personal information, such as name, phone number, age, and/or gender to prevent harassments from strangers. Tell your children that they should always inform you if persons online asked them of any personal information.
It is imperative to implement safety measures when children venture in the cyberspace. Parents can install filters in their home computers to prevent children from having access to adult services and porn sites. Filters also prevent children from accidentally viewing porn ads and offensive spams. When parents set up computer rules such as time limit, it is best that parents implement them before they give their children a chance to use the computer. Moreover, it is advisable that you place the computer where you can easily monitor computer usage by your children.
